Stray Pigeons!!

What to do if you find a stray pigeon.

Should you find a stray pigeon and open its wing, you may find, stamped on one or more feathers, the name and address  and / or telephone number of the owner.

Write down the full details of the plastic coated metal ring and quote this to the owner.

If the owner has not stamped his/her address on the bird's wing then look up the  details here and contact the secretary/official who should be able to contact the owner or give you their details.

As you may have the bird for a few days, until it can be collected or sent for, you can feed it with any hard grains e.g. Peas, Wheat, Barley, Maize, Rice, Lentils  and also give the bird some fresh water. Keep the bird in a box with plenty of air holes to breath or place in empty rabbit hutch or similar.
